What we did

We decided to pay off several credit cards and kept about a quarter of our return for things we needed that we would have otherwise been tempted to put on a credit card. Ya know? We had several small credit accounts that we tend to pay off once a year, but got out of that habit last year. So, in all we are saving $140 a month now, and only have 2 actual credit cards left with a balance. We still have a Dell bill (as you may remember from my computer rant a couple months ago), and a credit line with the dentist, and maybe one more thing but I can't remember. I feel good about the money we are going to save each month, but that is about to go straight into health insurance for the kids come August. At least we have it now, before we didn't!

Jason had an interview at Bryant High for an English position, but we don't believe that he got it. He will probably get a "thanks, but no thanks" letter soon. We are very disappointed about this, because it offered a lot of hope for our current situation. Jason works about 45 minutes from home, which makes it nearly impossible to get enough sleep or enough family time. It also puts a serious strain on the car, the ONE car we have. It is a 3.5 hour ordeal for me to take him to work in the morning, come home, then go back and get him and come home in the evenings. So, that RARELY happens and when it does, I seriously want to cry. I have no time to do anything in between the driving and meals/naps/work. None! So, if he were working only 15 minutes from home, things could have been a lot better. Not to mention the gas! Oh well, God has a reason and His own timing that I've learned to trust. It just takes me a bit to get over my own plans.

Sorry to be a downer today after my fun knitting and running post. I did get new shoes (part of the things we "needed") but they are too big so I have to exchange them and then I'll post pictures. I went to Easy Runner in Little Rock and they did the video of me running and looked at my foot strike and evaluated what type of shoe I needed. It was pretty awesome, minus the running on the sidewalk with Panera patrons for an audience! ;)

I had not heard of the running shoe analysis. That's pretty cool. It'll be so nice to have that money "freed" up for the next couple months and hopefully if Jason doesn't get the Bryant job another will come available. We need to go to the park together soon. Maybe tomorrow?

I'm glad you got a professional opinion about your shoes. Now you will have the right gear! Yay for paying off some bills!!! Praying for your job situation. John got the job he was applying for, it sounded all lovely on paper but he is hating it =(

sorry about the car situation still being a situation, but hey, you paid off credit cards! You'll be glad you did in the end. It sure doesn't make it easy though with your 3.5 hour day of driving back and forth.
