Another Mother's Day!

Yes, this is my third very special mother's day. Two years ago Sunday, I found out I was pregnant with Adeline. The next year was my first official year as a mom, and this year I'm officially a mother of two! Jason says Mother's Day is good for me because it's like a half birthday. I completely agree with this assessment and love him dearly for working so hard to make my mother's days so wonderful.

I don't have any pictures up yet, but they will come soon! Sunday we went to church and Freddy helped in the service by reciting, "Love is kind." It came out, "Love...Kind," but he didn't seem nervous in front of all those people. I was very proud of him, especially for sitting in the front row with the other kids for over half of the service. He was soo good! We actually sang worship songs that I knew rather than only hymns, which are great, but I don't know them well. We sang worship songs like I sang in college and it so blessed my soul to be able to sing without the awkwardness of not knowing the melody or the words and just be free to belt it out in celebration. Not only that, but it reminded me of college and where God met me and how He meets me now in completely new ways & places, like in the faces of my sweet babies.

Afterwards the kids got short naps and Jason took us all out to a late lunch at Caper's, yuuummmmm. I had a crispy bread crumb crusted chicken breast stuffed with spinach & goat cheese, topped with a thick mushroom sauce & rosemary served with 5 cheese stuffed spinach tortellini. Um, it was soo good! During lunch Jason had the great idea to take Freddy to his first big movie at the theater, How to Train Your Dragon. Rachel sat at home while Addie napped and we went to see it in 3D! Freddy was really good and had no attention problems, it was just HORRIFYING! Seriously, the dragons weren't exactly cute and there were huge attacks, battles, fire, and then this huge creature dino dragon with vicious teeth. Maybe I should have done a little research before we went, but I don't think any permanent damage was done because now he won't stop talking about "Toothless the Black Dragon" and wears his 3D glasses everywhere!

So, we had a quick leftover supper and Rachel babysat so Jason and I could go see Iron Man 2, which was really fun. Oh, gifts, I got a box set of my favorite perfume that I only get every 2 years or so. It's J'adore by Christian Dior. MMMMMM, smells so wonderful! I also got a new rolling fully adjustable laptop desk so I can work anywhere in the house in total comfort! I still say it's good to be mom! Hope all my mom friends out there had a great day. I also think that it should just be Women's Day. I hate to sound all anti-feminist, but I think that the mere fact we are women lends us to caring for others whether they are co-workers, family, friends, or the people we serve at church, work, or in our personal ministries. I think that our caretaking nature is such a lovely example of what it means to be a servant unto others. Hooray for a day of gratitude, let's see if I can show mine as well to my husband on his day!

It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! I think its funny about your hym/worship songs at church thing because I am the complete opposite! at least the hymnals show you the music so you have an idea on how long to pause on the word, when the words are just printed on paper or shown on a screen I am totally lost!!

Well, it would help if I remembered anything from music class. Seeing the music written on the page is complete GREEK to me!

Before taking me out to dinner, Steven took me to see Iron Man 2!
Tell Jason that great minds think alike.

Aww, that's sweet Mary! We didn't feel like we could beat Nancy's present from Bob so we aimed low! ;) I'm so glad to see a comment from you, I feel like I've made it in the world of blogging now! HA!
